Congressman Anthony Rolando T. Golez Jr. MD, MBAH
Married to Katherine Key Leong Golez and with a son, Zech Antonio. Born to Rolando Araneta Golez of Negros Occidental and Gloria Rios Torrillo of Rosario Cavite
As a well-experienced practitioner in healthcare management, health policy and health sector reform implementation in the Department of Health, he was employed by the department as the Executive Assistant of then-Secretary Manuel Dayrit in 2002 and eventually occupied several positions as Medical Specialist in the same agency.
He was also a Professor of the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) for the Executive Masters Disaster Risk and Crisis Management (2019-2021) because of his experience as one of the country’s experts in this field, being a Director of the then National Disaster Coordinating Council (now known as NDRRMC) from 2005-2009.
During the last May 2022 elections, he was a campaign leader for BBM-Sara tandem, while campaigning for the Malasakit at Bayanihan Partylist as its Representative. The Partylist won a seat making him a Congressman for the second time; the first time as Representative for the Lone District of Bacolod in 2010-2013.
“The seven-months pregnant Banal was on her way home to Manila en route to Cagayan de Oro for a brief vacation on Oct. 25 and was on a Manila-bound KLM flight from Copenhagen, Denmark via Amsterdam when she suffered labor pains half an hour into the flight.
A fellow Filipino and passenger on the flight, Dr. Anthony Golez of the Department of Defense’s Office of Civil Defense, who examined Banal after she began labor, told the flight crew they needed to land the plane so Banal could give birth.”
